Queest
This
well established area has a fine chalet and 35
square kilometers of riding country with deep
powder and exciting hill climbs. The access trails
have wonderful views of the Eagle Valley and the
Shuswap and Mara Lakes. Elevation is over 2,000
meters allowing for good sledding well into
spring. Note: The route to North Queest is
unmarked and can be difficult. Use caution and
consult with a local rider first.
To reach the Queest riding area, turn north off
the Trans Canada Hwy onto the Sicamous/Solsqua
Road (beside the Abide With Inn). Take this road
for approximately 1 km (past the Pole Yard on the
right) to the start of the 1800 Forest Service
Road on the left. Grooming usually starts at the
base unless there is active logging. If there is,
and the road is plowed, use the parking lot just
after the 14 km marker. (Be sure to use your radio
to alert logging truck drivers of your presence)
NOTE: An alternate, groomed route, starting at 1.7
km should also be open for use if there is
sufficient snow at this elevation. It is approximately 26 km to the chalet from the
start of the 1800 Road.
